Major Cancer Center in Houston, TX is seeking a skilled Back-end Web Developer to join the team for a 100% Remote short-term (~1 month) W2 Hourly Contract to work on a project with the Susan G Komen Foundation.
This project involves the development of a website and programming within a statistical model.
The right candidate will be able to program a piece of the XD Prototype, ensuring seamless integration between the WordPress plugin and the R Shiny app.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Program the API between our WordPress plugin and the R Shiny app, transmitting less than 10 variables to the app and ensuring access is limited to authorized users.
Configure the R Shiny app to deliver JSON data to the web app, assisting with converting the JSON data to usable JavaScript data.
Assist with the implementation of the WordPress plugin, ensuring it is well-built, durable, and able to be upgraded.
Provide insight, review, and documentation for any code created by the contractor.
Assist as needed with the refinement and deployment of the plugin.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience (professional or academic) as a Back-end Web Developer, specifically with API development, R Shiny, and JSON.
Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing APIs with limited access and prioritizing data security.
Ability to create a secure and well-formed plugin that can be easily updated in the future.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain programming techniques and code to team members.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality in code and documentation.
