Graphic Designer


You will blur the lines between graphic and product design, creating a truly unique role as a product graphic designer on one of the most appealing and challenging product forms, the bicycle. Mix Dieter Rams with Shepard Fairey and a dash of Coco Chanel and you will start to see the spectrum of design that is covered on our products.

The Product Color and Graphic (C&G) Designer will create best in class product design for the Trek bicycle line, as well as opportunities to design for special projects, our professional cycling teams and our apparel, helmets, and shoe lines, as-needed. You will travel the world for research, inspiration and have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the world's greatest cyclists. You must be a self-starter with a drive to deliver innovative ideas, strategy and design.

The Product C&G design team is responsible for trend research, color, and graphics on all products . It is a rare opportunity to work for the leading cycling brand in the USA and globally and provides a unique chance to influence the design at Trek and the cycling industry at large. The designer is a part of the Product Design team at Trek, surrounded by other graphic designers, apparel designers, industrial designers, engineers etc. This role will report to the Art Director of Product Design. This role will be based at our Waterloo headquarters, with a flexible in-office/work from home schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Bring an energy and excitement to the Product Design team, with a desire to continuously advance the color and graphics on all our products.

• Original designs for all our bicycle lines.

• Stay in touch with current trends in the design, outdoor and cycling industries, as well as production techniques.

• Create presentations, tech drawings, and visual collateral for reviews and vendor communications.

• Own your designs from concept through production hand-off.

• Work and collaborate with internal design team.

• Work with Product Managers and key stakeholders to ensure design and product goals are aligned.

Requirements:

• 3+ year experience in a graphic design role.

• Self-driven and able to excel both when working alone and when collaborating with others.

• Organization and Communication skills are a must.

• Ability to see your designs through from concept through production hand-off.

• Good verbal skills and ability to present your work professionally to key stakeholders.

• Experience and interest in the cycling industry is a plus.

• Work closely w/ project managers and meet deadlines.

• Intimate knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop.

• Keyshot/3D rendering experience is a plus.

• Augmented/Virtual Reality experience is a plus.
