Digital Art Director

We're Studio Simpatico. We're excited to introduce ourselves.

  • Our name (Studio Simpatico) reflects the authentic and collaborative approach we take when working with our clients and each other.

  • We're a boutique studio made up of children of the internet. We've been around since Geocities, but we're lifelong learners intense about keeping up with current trends.

  • We're overachievers that don't need micromanagement. We regularly share rich, constructive, and caring feedback, without the ego and office politics. We don't have time for that.

  • Our designers went to art school (SVA, Parsons) and know their stuff when it comes to typography, grids, color theory, and layout.

  • We've worked at a lot of places (Google, Apple, big agencies, small agencies) -- long enough to know we prefer a small studio environment.

  • We believe that how you organize your file's layers, and keeping measurements consistentmatters.

  • Our developers studied design. They're intensely collaborative, and they share our understanding that precise implementation matters. We all see padding.

  • We care about each other. Like, actually care.

  • We're self-aware about how comically organized we all are. We manage our own to do lists, and we all take part in managing our clients' expectations. Our studio deliberately doesn't hire project managers.

  • We're not afraid to admit it: We get bored, kinda easily. We love that is not like any other day.

  • We love our team. We love animals. We are not fans of Donald Trump.

  • We loved our whiteboard-heavy studio space in the Garment District, but we've been remote since the world shut down. Our Slack channels stay buzzing with rapid fire project collaboration and pet photos.

  • We're small, but we know we need to be competitive with salaries if we're going to attract good folks. We don't have a foosball table but we offer the important perks: health insurance, dental, vision, and 401(k) match. We have lives outside the office and don't work weekends.

Our small size allows us to be choosy about our projects. Some of our recent favorites:

  • The website for SEEHER, an ANA initiative whose mission is to accurately portray all women and girls in marketing, advertising, media, and entertainment, so they see themselves as they truly are and in all their potential. We're a woman owned business and understand that history has shown that in times of crisis, the limited progress in gender equality that has been made is at risk of reversal

  • A visual identity and marketing website for CALIBER, a weight training mobile application

  • A visual identity and marketing website for Praetorian, a cybersecurity consultancy

  • Content marketing hubs for hot D2C brands M.M.LaFleur and Prose Hair

For the next few months, we (and possibly you) will be working on:

  • A redesign of a database that allows gardeners to donate excess produce to food pantries

  • A full blown identity and marketing presence for a forward-thinking charter school based in the Bronx

  • An identity and website for one of New York City's top venture capital firms that's looking to emphasize their unique approach and personality of their founders

We're looking for a visual creative who:

  • Has a great portfolio

  • Has experience in branding, web design, and possibly even digital product design

  • Knows and dabbles in some HTML/CSS, but doesn't feel comfortable writing production code (don't worry, you won't have to)

  • Would thrive in the work environment we've outlined above

If this is you and after reading the above you know you're the right fit, please apply.

We strongly encourage women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals to apply.

We want to see your portfolio, but we also want to learn about you.
