Position Summary:

Dover is seeking an experienced IT professional to provide leadership, talent development, execution and oversight of enterprise IT programs and operational process excellence. The Director, IT Operational Excellence, will have responsibility for leading key enterprise IT programs supporting Dover’s vision of One IT. Additionally, in partnership with the vice-president of Infrastructure Transformation and Dover’s Chief Information Security Officer, the director will work with process leads in the areas of network security, end user computing, and hosting and storage to apply Lean process design to improve operational processes and service delivery governance. The Director will lead mixed teams (business, IT, security and supplier-partners) to achieve lean, self-sufficient and highly resilient IT operational processes. Supplier governance, including SLA performance tracking and associated account credits, will be established and managed on a monthly basis by the Director. In partnership with service stream tower leads, the incumbent will work with suppliers on improving services, communications, operational performance monitoring and issue escalation / resolution. This role will serve as a change agent for developing and encouraging a culture that is driven by continuous improvement, discipline, transparency, and accountability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Program oversight, direction, and execution of strategic enterprise IT initiatives
  • Develop Program-based approach to niche projects in the areas of Edge security, Identity and Access Management, Managed services and End User service delivery
  • Lead a team of 4 – 6 Project Managers, Business / Systems Analysts and contract resources
  • Provide guidance, development, and direction to Project Managers, Business/Systems Analysts, and Supplier-Partners; Influence through formal and informal networks to achieve desired outcomes
  • Develop dynamic, effective Change Management solutions to ensure adoption of solutions; Engage and inspire others as Change Agents
  • Develop and implement effective communications for Programs and establish a regular cadence for IT leadership to review key operational IT metrics and performance
  • Maintain team focus through effective project planning and execution; leverage a mix of waterfall and Agile techniques to optimize delivery outputs
  • Identify project and program risks and develop effective mitigation plans; Inform leadership of support / decisions needed to manage risks
  • Lead, develop and maintain standard program management processes / standard work to improve project manager efficiency and improve long-term Program execution, cost and quality
  • Partner with VP and Director-level constituents in business functions, IT and Security to identify, procure, implement, and support effective technology solutions in support of their enterprise processes
  • Act as a liaison between Dover IT, supplier, and Dover functional owner to resolve conflicts, address operational issues, and support technology roadmap
  • Resolve conflicts between project teams, Dover operating companies and supplier-partners
  • Demonstrate commitment to industry standards, company policy, integrity, ethics and legal compliance

Qualifications / Requirements / Desired Characteristics:

  • Minimum of B.S. or equivalent in Information Technology (MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar discipline) or B.S. in a relevant engineering, scientific or business discipline. Advanced degree, MS and/or MBA, is preferred.
  • 12+ years’ Service Delivery / Program experience in IT, Finance or Human Resources.
    • Experience Establishing or running a Shared Service Center strongly preferred
  • Competency in risk assessment evaluation tools & techniques; development and execution of effective Risk Mitigation plans
  • Experience leading strategic contracting processes with technology focus / implications: RFI, RFP, MSA, Statement of Work; Supplier negotiation and Service Level Management experience
  • Ability to work well with vendors, internal constituents, and third party/internal compliance groups
  • Ability to influence & lead vendor negotiations and/or facilitate discussions with vendors and internal requestors/customers
  • Understanding of contracting processes and procedures including terms and conditions, pricing, statements of work, amendments, and NDA’s
  • Experience running complex, global projects with various stakeholders (multi-function / multi-region)
  • Lean and Six-Sigma certifications a plus
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a dynamic environment
  • Strong sense of urgency, accountability and highly objective oriented
  • Highly organized and efficient in approaching tasks, a self-starter with ability to problem solve proactively
  • Impeccable organization and efficiency skills; strong attention to detail
