Sr. Manager of Information Security Operations

This position requires experience, knowledge and skills in the areas of operational procedures, staff management, 24x7 system monitoring, event evaluation, vulnerability, and incident management. The candidate will also be responsible for technical tool and process validation, leading the global Incident Response team, and operational control framework.

As a people leader, the Sr. Manager will assess the operational environment and align to company and industry best practice strategies that ensure the maturity and efficacy of the implemented processes and controls. This role requires the ability to manage many moving parts in relation to event and incident coordination, communicate effectively to senior management, and display strong tactical knowledge to support detailed issue resolution efforts. This candidate must also effectively collaborate with numerous internal and external business partners and serve as a change management representative for Information Security Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable, and to be established as a subject matter expert on security operational procedures, evidence gathering, and forensic efforts to protect company information assets

  • Continuous update of InfoSec operational procedures, documentation, and incident response actions

  • Lead InfoSec technical operational activities, such as incident escalation and tabletop exercises

  • Understanding of security threats, risk identification for systems, infrastructure, and data. Risk-based planning, prioritization of operational staff duties, and participation in broader team management priorities

  • Research, analyze, test, and lead operational team in functional use of security tools and services used to support the Security Operations, IT, Development Operations, Data Governance, customer support teams, legal, human resources, laboratory, product development, manufacturing, privacy regulations, and other operational-based duties

  • People leader for a team of InfoSec level 1-3 operational engineers with global span of responsibility.  Ensure the team is focused on strategic objectives, a prioritized set of aligned goals, and professional development

  • Manage ongoing relationship with 3rd party partners providing high quality services related to InfoSec Operational duties

  • Lead the InfoSec operational team to mitigate risk by delivering expert management and guidance on key InfoSec disciplines for SIEM, access controls, infrastructure, network, cloud, application development, cryptographic, data, end user computing, servers, and other environments

  • Lead the team to define and develop key standards for critical problem determination, technology improvement, event identification and escalation that promote the adoption and use of solutions, practices, and procedures that comply with internal policies and align with industry best practices

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of Information Security Operations experience with track record of leading enterprise-wide support based on industry standard security concepts, technical controls, and best practice frameworks

  • Minimum 5+ years Information Security Incident Response leadership, including experience identifying technical and procedural gaps

  • Minimum 5+ years as people leader of technical Information Security Operations or Incident Response team

  • Ability to proactively collaborate by sharing information, managing knowledge across many diverse teams to obtain input and feedback resulting in broad adopt solutions that improve security posture

  • Project management skill comprehension and proven practice, sense of ownership, and ability to lead and define clear actions for the team that results in the accomplishment of shared goals across the organization

  • Effective communicator delivering key messages to managed team, business partners, and stakeholders using clear and informative verbal and written communications

  • Professional qualifications are preferred: CISSP, SANS GIAC, MITRE, ITIL, OWASP, and similar

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or similar and relevant work experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security, and/or related work experience
