Estimator Roofing/Rainwater


Position Purpose

The Estimator Roofing/Rainwater is responsible for the estimation and quotation of builders' roofing and rainwater supply and installation requirements.

The estimator is responsible for liaising and developing the builder base within the assigned portfolio.

The estimator manages the day-to-day workload of the small team.

Through expertise and knowledge of the industry, the estimator should also develop a program for increasing the builder base.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Competent in interpreting plans, specifications, and details for residential construction projects.
  2. Proficient in Roof Wizard Estimating Software (essential).
  3. Strong product knowledge of roofing and rainwater systems, materials, and installation practices.
  4. Estimating and winning work from builders.
  5. Work with the team of estimators to ensure the team is productive.
  6. Ordering materials and labour to fulfill the quote on time and on budget.
  7. Liaising with the assigned supervisor to ensure the quoted job is completed on time to the standard set by the Company and agreed to by the installer.
  8. Build client relationships.
  9. Achieve monthly sales budget with the corresponding cost of material and labour being met.
  10. Support the supervisor in management of the job.
  11. Support the estimators with processes and daily tasks.

Duties

  1. Produce workflow timelines to ensure that jobs are completed within deadlines and that Company standards are met.
  2. Coordination of the supervisors and installer team.
  3. Coordination of materials to the job.
  4. Coordinate the estimating team workload, including leave.
  5. Provide the installers with the quoted cost of the job as part of the job paperwork.
  6. Regular inspection and liaison with the supervisor to ensure timelines are being met.
  7. Communicate progress to the builder’s supervisor.
  8. Regular follow-up on outstanding quotes in a timely manner to maximize the acceptance ratio of jobs quoted.
  9. Keep supervisors and installers up to date with changing work methods or materials as they become relevant.
  10. Ensure that occupational work standards are met.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Essential

  1. Good time manager.
  2. Excellent communicator.
  3. Must speak fluent English (spoken and written).
  4. Year 12 education or equivalent.
  5. Experienced in all Microsoft Office applications.
  6. Proficient in Roof Wizard Estimating Software.
  7. Understanding and experience in reviewing plans, details, and specifications for residential construction.
  8. Strong product knowledge of roofing and rainwater systems.

Desirable

  1. Tertiary qualification in a building/engineering discipline.
  2. Experience in the building industry trades, particularly residential roofing.
  3. Management experience in the building or associated industry.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The key prerequisite for this position is a self-starter with organizational capability, technology-based estimating experience (including proficiency in Roof Wizard Software), a proven success pattern.

Candidates must demonstrate strong understanding of residential construction, plan interpretation, and roofing product knowledge.
