FMR Investments is currently seeking a Residential Graduate Geologist (******), based in the Goldfields region, to join our team. This role plays a vital part in achieving our development and production targets.

POSITION SUMMARY

Location

  1. Based at our Gordon Sirdar Gold Mine approximately 55km north-east of Kalgoorlie (NO FIFO)

Roster Hours

  1. 8 - hour shifts on a 5:2 roster , rotating between day and night shifts.

SUMMARY OF ROLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Graduate Geologist at our Western Australian Gold Mine, you will support the geology team in daily mine geology activities, including sampling, logging, mapping, data collection, and exploration. You will gain hands-on experience, develop technical skills, and contribute to safe and efficient ore extraction under guided supervision.

Your key responsibilities will include:

General Duties

  1. Assist in grade control activities.
  2. Conduct field sampling and geological logging (soil, AC, RAB, RC, diamond core).
  3. Support geological mapping (pit, underground, core yard).
  4. Enter and maintain geological data in site databases and software.
  5. Shadow senior geologists to interpret geochemical and geological data.
  6. Assist in updating geological models and preparing section maps.
  7. Follow all safety protocols and promote safe work practices.
  8. Participate in reconciliation and production reporting processes.

Equipment, Machinery, Systems & Tools

  1. GPS and field mapping equipment.
  2. Geological logging tools (hand lens, core orientation tools).
  3. Geological modelling and database software (Surpac, Leapfrog, Datashed).
  4. Sample preparation and sampling equipment.
  5. Mine vehicles for pit/underground access (post-training).

Administrative Documentation & Reporting

  1. Accurate completion of sample logs and field notes.
  2. Daily entry of geological data and sample information.
  3. Support in generating reports, figures, and maps.
  4. Maintain records of fieldwork and logging activities.
  5. Contribute to geology reports and technical documents under supervision.

Health, Safety, Compliance & Communication

  1. Adhere to all company policies, environmental standards, and site procedures (including the WHS Act & Regulations)
  2. Communicate effectively and complete all required documentation accurately and on time
  3. Conduct routine inspections to identify and control hazards

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Experience

Essential

  1. Some on-site experience in geological logging, sampling, mapping, or ore control.

Desirable

  1. Vacation work, internships, or mining field experience.
  2. Familiarity with geological software.

Education/Qualifications/ Licenses

Essential

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, Earth Science, or equivalent.
  2. Current and valid manual driver’s licence.

Desirable

  1. Strong technical knowledge in the gold resource sector operations or mining industry
  2. Basic experience with geological logging or software.
