Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000 per annum plus superannuation

About the Role

The Business Systems Analyst plays a key role in analysing business processes and ICT systems to ensure technology solutions align with operational and client requirements. Working closely with internal stakeholders, technical staff and external vendors, the role focuses on gathering and documenting requirements, improving systems and processes, and supporting the successful delivery of ICT solutions.

This role is analytical and systems-focused and does not involve hands-on technical support, hardware repair, network installation or system configuration.

Outback IT also operates internal systems for customer management, service delivery, inventory, billing and reporting, which require ongoing analysis and improvement to support business efficiency and growth.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Consult with internal stakeholders and, where required, business clients to identify, analyse and document business requirements, system needs and operational objectives.
  2. Review and analyse existing business processes, workflows and ICT systems to identify inefficiencies, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  3. Translate business requirements into clear functional and non-functional specifications to support the design and enhancement of internal systems, websites and business applications.
  4. Apply business process modelling, data analysis and systems analysis techniques to produce accurate documentation, including requirement specifications, process maps and system diagrams.
  5. Support ICT solution planning by providing business analysis input for networking and business software projects, ensuring solutions are aligned with defined business requirements.
  6. Act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and appropriately addressed during solution delivery.
  7. Assist in system implementation activities by coordinating and supporting system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that solutions meet business needs.
  8. Support change management and system adoption by preparing user documentation, training materials and providing guidance to users on new or updated systems.

Skills and Experience Required:

  1. Bachelor degree or higher equivalent.
  2. Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
  3. Strong experience analysing business processes and translating requirements into system specifications.
  4. Experience working on system implementation or enhancement projects, including collaboration with developers, testers and key stakeholders.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into clear technical documentation.
  6. Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
