FMR Investments is currently seeking an experienced Residential Surveyor, based in the Goldfields region, to join our team. This role plays a vital part in achieving our development and production targets.

POSITION SUMMARY

  1. Based at our Gordon Sirdar Gold Mine approximately 55km north-east of Kalgoorlie

Roster Hours

  1. 8 hr shifts on a 5:2 roster.

SUMMARY OF ROLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Surveyor, you will provide timely, precise, and compliant survey support to underground mining operations. Your work will directly contribute to safe and efficient production by delivering critical spatial data, conducting mark-ups, and maintaining accurate records and reporting. The role requires technical skill, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Conduct underground and surface surveys: pickups, mark-ups, set-outs, and control point installations
  2. Operate and maintain total stations, GNSS/GPS units, laser scanners, and related equipment
  3. Process, validate, and upload spatial data for compliance and reconciliation
  4. Create and update mine survey plans using Surpac, Deswik, AutoCAD, or Vulcan
  5. Provide mark-ups for drill holes, stopes, development headings, and infrastructure
  6. Perform CMS scans and stockpile/ROM pad volume surveys
  7. Assist with monthly reporting and compliance tracking
  8. Comply with statutory requirements under the WA Mining Regulations 1981
  9. Actively participate in safety and toolbox meetings

General Duties

  1. Support safe, compliant survey practices aligned with QA/QC standards
  2. Maintain open communication with engineering, geology, and drilling teams
  3. Mentor and assist Graduate Surveyors as required
  4. Participate in safety initiatives and hazard reporting
  5. Work across both underground and surface environments

Equipment, Machinery, Systems & Tools

  1. Total Stations (e.g. Leica, Trimble)
  2. GPS/GNSS receivers
  3. Laser Scanners (LiDAR/CMS)
  4. Survey and CAD software (Surpac, Dewi, Vulcan, AutoCAD)
  5. Digital levels, two-way radios, rugged tablets

Administrative Documentation & Reporting

  1. Maintain accurate and current spatial databases
  2. Prepare and distribute survey mark-ups, reports, and plans
  3. Record field notes and daily logs per site documentation standards
  4. Support compliance and audit requirements through detailed records
  5. Contribute to monthly spatial reporting and reconciliations

Health, Safety, Compliance & Communication

  1. Adhere to all company policies, environmental standards, and site procedures (including the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act and Regulations)
  2. Communicate effectively and complete all required documentation accurately and on time
  3. Conduct routine inspections to identify and control hazards

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Experience

Essential

  1. Previous experience as an Underground Mine Surveyor or Survey Technician
  2. Minimum of 2+ years field experience

Desirable

  1. Previous experience managing survey activities or mentoring junior surveyors in an underground mining environment

Education/Qualifications/ Licenses

Essential

  1. Completed an Advanced Diploma of Surveying or a Bachelor of Surveying, Geomatics or Spatial Science

Desirable

  1. "C" Class manual Australian Driver’s Licence
  2. Shotfirer's Licence (Explosives User Licence)
  3. Dangerous Goods Security Card (DGSC)
  4. Strong technical knowledge in gold resource sector operations or the broader mining industry
  5. Emergency Response Team (ERT) experience
