Senior Developer Programmer – E-commerce & Inventory Systems

About us

Labanda is Australia’s leading supplier of horological components, tools, and watch materials. With an extensive inventory of over 80,000 individual items—ranging from mechanical movements, calibres, spare parts, cases, crystals, straps, and precision workshop tools used in everyday watch repair and restoration.—our digital platform is the heartbeat of our operations. We serve a vast network of professional watchmakers and enthusiasts, requiring a sophisticated digital ecosystem that manages massive data sets with absolute precision.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Developer Programmer to take ownership of our core digital platforms. This role is not about mobile app development; it is about the "engine room" of our business: our high-volume E-commerce website and its integrated backend systems. You will be responsible for interpreting complex business specifications and technical designs to build, maintain, and modify the code that keeps our 80,000+ item catalog synchronized, searchable, and secure.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Interpret technical designs and specifications to build and modify the code for our main E-commerce platform and wholesale portals.
  2. Construct technical specifications from our functional business model to manage a database of over 80,000 SKUs, ensuring real-time accuracy of stock levels and parts compatibility.
  3. Maintain and optimize both frontend user interfaces for a seamless customer experience and backend logic for complex order processing and supplier integrations.
  4. Build and maintain custom APIs that link our web storefront with internal ERP, inventory management, and shipping systems.
  5. Lead the testing, debugging, and diagnosing of errors in application code to ensure the platform performs to specification under high traffic and data loads.
  6. Write and update comprehensive technical program documentation, system plans, and operational procedures to ensure long-term system integrity.
  7. Identify technology limitations in our current processes and develop strategies for software upgrades that enhance system speed and data reliability.

Skills and Experience

  1. Proven experience as a Developer Programmer, with a strong portfolio in building and maintaining large-scale web applications and complex data systems.
  2. Proficiency in modern web languages (PHP, JavaScript/Node.js, or Python) and advanced expertise in relational database management (SQL) for high-SKU environments.
  3. Strong experience in API development and integrating web platforms with complex inventory and ERP software.
  4. A disciplined approach to writing technical documentation and following quality-accredited coding standards.
  5. Horology industry experience or strong familiarity with watchmaking concepts (movements, calibres, spare parts, workshop tools, repair processes) is highly desirable.
  6. An interest in or experience with high-volume retail/wholesale environments; the ability to understand the complexities of horological parts and movement references is highly regarded.
  7. You will play a pivotal role in shaping systems that directly impact professional watchmakers and workshop operations across Australia.
  8. Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience commensurate with ANZSCO Skill Level 1.

Join our team

This is a critical role for an experienced developer who thrives on managing complex data and high-performance web systems.
