Role Purpose

The Computer Network and Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimising network and system infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient IT operations. The role supports business continuity by proactively managing systems performance, resolving technical issues, and improving network architecture in line with organisational needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design, implement, and maintain computer networks and system infrastructure
2. Monitor system performance, network availability, and security
3. Configure and manage servers, network devices, firewalls, and cloud services
4. Diagnose and resolve network, hardware, and system issues
5. Implement system upgrades, patches, and configuration changes
6. Ensure data security, backup, and disaster recovery procedures are in place
7. Manage user access, permissions, and system policies
8. Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and system records
9. Provide technical support and escalation assistance when required
10. Conduct system testing and performance tuning
11. Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices
12. Liaise with vendors and service providers for hardware and software solutions
13. Support integration of new technologies and systems
14. Identify risks and recommend infrastructure improvements
15. Follow organisational IT policies and WHS requirements

Requirements

1. Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time experience as a Network and Systems Engineer or similar role
2. Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field
3. Strong knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems, and system administration
4. Experience with network security, firewalls, and monitoring tools
5. Ability to analyse problems and implement effective technical solutions
6. Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical tasks
