We are currently looking for a Java L3 Production Support Specialist to support critical, business-facing applications for a large enterprise environment.

This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong in Java, enjoys solving complex production issues, and has a genuine production support mindset. It is not a pure development role and it is not a senior leadership or architecture position.

The initial contract is 4 days per week for one month, with the potential to extend.

Key details

1. Location: On-site, Sydney CBD
2. Contract: 4 days per week
3. Initial duration: 1 month
4. Hours: 8-hour day with 1 hour unpaid lunch
5. Rate: $50–55 per hour + super

The role

You will be responsible for providing Level 3 production support across critical Java-based applications. The focus is on stability, incident resolution, and keeping systems running smoothly.

Day to day, this includes:

1. Owning L3 production support for Java applications
2. Troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues
3. Performing root cause analysis and preventing repeat incidents
4. Working closely with development and infrastructure teams
5. Monitoring logs, jobs, and system health
6. Improving system stability through automation and scripting
7. Supporting incident, problem, and change processes

What we are looking for

1. Strong hands-on experience supporting Java applications in production
2. Solid knowledge of Core Java and Spring (Spring Boot preferred)
3. Proven experience in L3 support or production support environments
4. Strong SQL skills, including query optimisation
5. Comfortable working in Linux/Unix environments
6. Experience with incident management and ITIL-based processes
7. A calm, methodical approach to handling high-pressure incidents

Nice to have

1. Autosys or similar job scheduling tools
2. Shell scripting for automation
3. Exposure to AWS or cloud-based environments
4. Experience with monitoring and observability tools

3. Not an architecture or solution design position
4. Not suited to candidates looking for strategic ownership or long-term transformation work
