Aust Café Unit Trust, established in 2009, is a financially strong and well-regarded hospitality group, operating Café Adamo-Heidelberg, located at Level 1, Austin Tower, 145 Studley Road, Heidelberg VIC 3084. With over 15 years of continuous operation, the café has built a strong reputation for culinary excellence, operational stability, and sustainable growth.

Our business employs over 65 staff across front-of-house, kitchen, administration, and management functions. With a high annual turnover and diverse revenue streams—including dine-in, takeaway, and event catering—Café Adamo-Heidelberg requires robust financial management and strategic oversight.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to manage and oversee all financial and accounting operations, ensure compliance with statutory obligations, and provide strategic financial insight to support continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

·Oversee all accounting and financial operations for a high-volume hospitality business, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

·Prepare, review, and interpret statutory and management financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss, and cash flow reports.

·Monitor cash flow, working capital, budgets, operating costs, and overall financial performance.

·Ensure compliance with taxation and statutory obligations, including BAS, GST, PAYG, superannuation, and ATO reporting requirements.

·Oversee payroll operations for over 65 employees, ensuring accuracy and legislative compliance.

·Develop, implement, and maintain robust accounting systems, internal controls, and financial policies to safeguard business assets.

·Perform account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.

·Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and risk assessments to support operational planning and strategic decisions.

·Provide professional financial and taxation advice to management on business structures, planning, and performance improvement.

·Liaise with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities.

·Support audits, compliance reviews, and financial investigations, including fraud prevention measures.

·Evaluate and advise on accounting software and financial management systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

Your Skills & Experience

To be a successful in the role of Accountant you will have a high level of attention to detail and will possess:

  1. A degree in accounting with specialisation in financial accounting.
  2. Minimum 1-year relevant work experience.
  3. Proven ability to meet critical deadlines.
  4. Ability to impart knowledge of systems, procedures and policies to support staff.
  5. Full working knowledge of Excel and experience with a database accounting software package.
  6. Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check; and
  7. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Benefits

We offer a competitive remuneration package, including an annual salary of AU$85,000 plus superannuation, for a full-time permanent position comprising 38 hours per week.
