Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, excellent leadership skills, and a genuine passion for creating memorable dishes. This role involves overseeing all kitchen operations, managing staff, maintaining quality and presentation standards, and ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
- Modify existing menus and create new dishes that meet quality standards
- Estimate food requirements and manage food and labour costs
- Supervise and guide kitchen staff in daily operations
- Recruit, train, and manage kitchen team members
- Arrange equipment purchases, maintenance, and repairs
- Resolve operational issues, customer feedback, and complaints
- Perform kitchen-related administrative duties
- Ensure compliance with nutrition, food safety, sanitation, and OH&S regulations
- Manage and maintain food safety programs and documentation
- Handle menu planning, rostering, ordering, and stock control
- Prepare and cook food to a high standard
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to team members
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Build and maintain effective working relationships
- Demonstrate outstanding time management during preparation and service periods
- Show genuine interest in the day-to-day operations of the restaurant
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Chef in a professional kitchen
- Strong track record in kitchen and team management
- Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently
- Excellent delegation, communication, and leadership skills
- Up-to-date knowledge of culinary trends and efficient kitchen processes
- Experience with food safety programs and compliance requirements
- Competency with MS Office, restaurant management systems, and POS software
- Relevant health and safety training credentials
- Culinary school diploma or degree in food service management or a related field (preferred)
