Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, excellent leadership skills, and a genuine passion for creating memorable dishes. This role involves overseeing all kitchen operations, managing staff, maintaining quality and presentation standards, and ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
  2. Modify existing menus and create new dishes that meet quality standards
  3. Estimate food requirements and manage food and labour costs
  4. Supervise and guide kitchen staff in daily operations
  5. Recruit, train, and manage kitchen team members
  6. Arrange equipment purchases, maintenance, and repairs
  7. Resolve operational issues, customer feedback, and complaints
  8. Perform kitchen-related administrative duties
  9. Ensure compliance with nutrition, food safety, sanitation, and OH&S regulations
  10. Manage and maintain food safety programs and documentation
  11. Handle menu planning, rostering, ordering, and stock control
  12. Prepare and cook food to a high standard
  13. Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to team members
  14. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  15. Build and maintain effective working relationships
  16. Demonstrate outstanding time management during preparation and service periods
  17. Show genuine interest in the day-to-day operations of the restaurant

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Proven experience as a Chef in a professional kitchen
  2. Strong track record in kitchen and team management
  3. Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently
  4. Excellent delegation, communication, and leadership skills
  5. Up-to-date knowledge of culinary trends and efficient kitchen processes
  6. Experience with food safety programs and compliance requirements
  7. Competency with MS Office, restaurant management systems, and POS software
  8. Relevant health and safety training credentials
  9. Culinary school diploma or degree in food service management or a related field (preferred)
