Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer – Power Quality & UPS

About the Role:

We have an opportunity for a Pre-Sales Solution Engineer – Power Quality & UPS to join our Product Management and Marketing team.

Reporting to the Business Manager – Pre-Sales & Training, this role works closely with sales leaders and internal teams to help qualify and solve project opportunities, ensuring a strong pre-sales support engagement with:

  1. Technical expertise
  2. Product / solution prescription / recommendation
  3. System / solution architecture
  4. Solution presentations / demonstrations
  5. Proof-of-Concept development
  6. Technical training

Working with sales leaders to create a collaborative sales & pre-sales team environment having a common alignment to help customers achieve their project objectives.

Employment Type: Full-time

Location: Queensland

Base: $90,000 - $105,000 (excluding Superannuation)

Car Allowance: $16,000

1. Technical Presales Support & Electrical Solution Design – Power Quality & UPS

  1. Working closely with the sales team to identify and qualify customer requirements around targeted project opportunities – aligning solutions with customer needs.
  2. Planning, designing, architecting, proposing and presenting solutions, addressing the technical and operational requirements aligned to project objectives for critical infrastructure in power utilities, water utilities, hospitals, buildings and infrastructure using power quality and uninterruptable power supply equipment
  3. Determine the type of electrical design needed to achieve the requirement of high availability power using uninterruptible power supplies with recommendations for all electrical equipment needed such as power distribution and power protection equipment to maintain infrastructure uptime.
  4. Interpret electrical drawings, single line diagrams and project specifications to standards and required regulations relating to uninterruptable power supply and power quality equipment.
  5. Organising and managing resources for project delivery in the supply of electrical equipment, uninterruptable power supplies and power quality systems.
  6. Establishing project delivery and installation schedules for uninterruptable power supplies and power quality systems along with all required periphery electrical equipment such as power distribution, power busduct, power protection and power monitoring.
  7. Research, present and recommend uninterruptable power supply and power quality solutions to electrical engineering audiences at industry events demonstrating best practice approaches across power and water utilities, mining, oil and gas process, traffic and transport infrastructure and industry manufacturing processes.
  8. Leading and delivering demonstrations, technical workshops and Proof-of-Concepts.
  9. Developing compelling technical proposals, solution architectures and value-add presentations.
  10. Customer training delivery

2. Customer Engagement & Advocacy – UPS & Power Quality

  1. Functioning as a trusted technical advisor, guiding customers through prescription and recommendation on the most effective solution strategies in markets such as buildings, infrastructure and industrial sectors with an active engagement via the frontline sales force with end users, consultants, EPCs / EPCMs, OEMs, major contractors, contractors and system integrators.
  2. Identifying and supporting customer project opportunity stakeholders.
  3. Helping support customers’ investment decisions - Business Case & ROI.
  4. Addressing customer objections and technical concerns, ensuring a seamless pre-sales experience.
  5. Engage with customers through on-site visits, remote consultations and industry events to build strong relationships.
  6. Training and developing customer education initiatives – technology workshops & deep dive workshops / lunch & learn sessions.

3. Collaboration & Cross Functional Support – Power Quality & UPS

  1. Working closely with product management & technology partners to provide feedback on customer needs and input into product development roadmaps.
  2. Supporting marketing teams in creating technical content, such as whitepapers, case studies and product positioning insights.
  3. Contributing to the knowledge of the sales & pre-sales team through sharing insights and continuous professional development.

4. Process optimization and Continuous Improvement

  1. Maintaining and updating the knowledge management system (Sharepoint), ensuring easy access to pre-sales resources.
  2. Tracking and reporting on key pre-sales performance metrics – number of customer interactions, win rate of targeted opportunities, number of training / education sessions.

5. Maintaining a high degree of self-motivation and self-development.

6. Other tasks as directed by your manager.

About you:

  1. Tertiary or trade qualifications and 5+ years’ experience in UPS or Power Quality products and systems are required.
  2. Experience in sales, pre-sales, technical solutions or technical consulting.
  3. Hands on experience with UPS or Power Quality.
  4. Ability in Proof-of-Concept development and building of solution demonstrations.
  5. Familiarity with design tools, industry software and technical documentation platforms.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  7. Problem solving mindset with a customer focused approach.
  8. Experience with CRM for managing customer interactions.
