This multifaceted position within a dynamic small business combines bookkeeping with administrative support to the sales team, helping us deliver high-quality lighting solutions to commercial projects across Tasmania. The position requires day-to-day account management and support for Southern Lighting's internal operations. The role provides direct service to our external customers and strong collaboration with the sales team.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Reconcile the day-to-day accounting transactions.
- Managing the accounts payable/ receivable, including the processing and payment of invoices, credit control, and the allocation of payments.
- Processing payroll and other related payroll tasks.
- Reconciliation, preparation, and lodgement of business activity statements (BAS) and instalment activity statements (IAS).
- Consulting with the external Accountant for annual accounts and tax queries.
- Customer service, including client communication, resolving inquiries, and providing broad support.
- General administrative duties relating to sales support, including clerical, office support, data entry, document management, record keeping, file management, database management, correspondence, mail, and scheduling.
- Identify and implement areas of improvement within the business's working structure.
Essential skills & experience
- Intermediate computer software skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Desirable skills & experience:
- Experience and/or qualifications across a wide range of accounting functions, or willing to undertake training such as TasTAFE Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.
- Experience with MYOB EXO.

Hours: Between 20 and 40 hours per week, 8:30 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Specific hours are negotiable for the right candidate. Flexible working arrangements are possible.
Remuneration: Salary plus an incentive bonus, negotiable depending on experience and skills.
