The Role
OnSpec is seeking a Maintenance Technician – Instrumentation to join our team in Chinchilla, Queensland. This is a full-time position, primarily based in the warehouse with occasional field work as required. The role involves the installation, modification, servicing and repair of advanced electronic instruments and control systems that integrate electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting diagnostic assessments on machinery, instrumentation and control systems by performing functional checks and performance testing.
Carrying out corrective work on machinery and instruments, including replacing faulty wiring and components, and undertaking regular upkeep to ensure reliability.
Rebuilding equipment after servicing, running operational trials and fine-tuning systems to achieve optimal functionality.
Providing guidance to operators on best-practice procedures and safe handling methods to minimise faults and extend equipment life.
Translating coded technical information into clear instructions and preparing written messages for communication and reporting purposes.
Overseeing communication channels, including radio transmissions, by sending and receiving operational messages in line with workplace protocols.
Setting up and configuring electronic instrumentation and control equipment as part of system installation and integration activities.
Utilising multidisciplinary engineering principles—electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic—when commissioning, calibrating and servicing control systems.
The Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
Experience in maintenance of instrumentation or Oil & Gas equipment will be viewed favourably.
Familiarity with PLC systems and calibration software.
Driver’s Licence (essential).
Forklift Licence (essential).
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.
No additional registration or licence required.
Location & Salary
Based in Chinchilla, Queensland.
Full-time position.
Salary: AUD $80,000 – $85,000 per annum.
