S & S EARTHWORKS PTY LTD is a growing provider of earthmoving and civil construction services, committed to delivering high-quality outcomes with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and compliance.
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Environmental Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will support our operations by ensuring all projects comply with environmental legislation, local council regulations, and best sustainability practices. You will play a critical role in monitoring, reporting, and advising on environmental risks, while also leading the development and implementation of mitigation strategies to minimise environmental impacts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental assessments, audits, and impact studies for earthmoving and construction projects.
- Ensure full compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and local council requirements.
- Develop and manage Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and site-specific environmental control measures.
- Provide practical guidance on erosion and sediment control, dust suppression, noise/vibration, and waste management.
- Liaise with regulators, councils, and community stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Prepare and submit compliance reports, environmental monitoring data, and incident documentation.
- Deliver training sessions and toolbox talks to site teams regarding environmental compliance and procedures.
- Identify and mitigate environmental risks to flora, fauna, water systems, soil, and heritage sites.
- Support sustainability initiatives, including recycling, resource use efficiency, and site rehabilitation.
- Advise management on changing environmental policies and industry best practices.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of Australian environmental legislation and construction/earthmoving regulations.
- Experience in preparing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), compliance reports, and management plans.
- Familiarity with air, soil, and water quality monitoring techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience engaging with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency with GIS, Microsoft Office, and environmental reporting software (highly regarded).
- Experience working in civil construction, mining, or earthworks environments is desirable.
