Job Overview

The Site Supervisor/Estimator will support Construction Managers, Architects, Surveyors and the onsite construction team in planning and organisation. This position involves supervising and inspecting construction sites and performing technical tasks. The Site Supervisor/Estimator will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. This role is a combination of responsibilities, as essential to fulfill the requirements of our small business.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision and Coordination:

  1. Oversee day-to-day construction activities on-site and coordinate with contractors and tradespeople.
  2. Ensure that work is performed in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and building regulations.
  3. Monitor progress of work programs and address any issues or delays promptly.
  4. Plotting initial site plans and data

Technical Support:

  1. Assist in interpreting cost plans, regulations, and codes of practice.
  2. Prepare and revise working drawings, specifications, and plans.
  3. Collect and analyse survey data using surveying instruments and equipment.
  4. Reviewing designs and technical specifications submitted for project execution

Inspection and Quality Control:

  1. Inspect materials and completed work to ensure they meet project requirements and quality standards.
  2. Conduct routine checks for safety compliance and address potential hazards.

Cost and Resource Management:

  1. Estimate project costs, timeframes, and resource needs.
  2. Assist in ordering materials and managing inventory on-site.

Problem-Solving and Maintenance:

  1. Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues related to construction, maintenance, or repairs.
  2. Carry out routine maintenance of tools, equipment, and site facilities.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  1. Strong experience with one or more of the following; carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general construction.
  2. Ability to read and interpret technical plans, drawings, and specifications.
  3. Knowledge of construction standards, safety regulations, and codes of practice.
  4. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  5. Excellent organisational, coordination, and time management skills.
  6. Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Degree in Architectural Design or similar.
  2. Proven experience in construction supervision and hands-on site work.
  3. Familiarity with construction management software or tools is a plus.
  4. Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and first aid is an advantage.
