Job Title: Financial & Accounting Manager

Job Summary:

The Financial & Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all financial operations and accounting functions within the organization. This role ensures that financial systems and processes support strategic objectives, comply with regulatory requirements, and maintain the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting. The successful candidate will lead a team of accounting professionals, manage budgeting and forecasting processes, and provide insightful financial analysis to guide decision-making at the executive level.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will be responsible for:

• Financial Management & Reporting:

• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

• Oversee the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data through robust internal controls.

• Analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and providing actionable insights.

• Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop realistic and strategic financial plans.

• Develop financial models and forecasts to support business planning and long-term strategic objectives.

• Monitor and review departmental spending to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.

• Compliance & Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with local taxation, financial regulations, and corporate policies.

• Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits and address any issues identified.

• Implement and maintain effective internal controls to mitigate financial risks.

• Team Leadership & Development:

• Manage and mentor a team of accounting and finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

• Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and keep up-to-date with industry changes.

• Delegate tasks effectively and monitor progress to meet deadlines.

• Strategic Financial Planning:

• Collaborate with executive management to develop financial strategies that align with the organization’s long-term goals.

• Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, and business growth opportunities.

• Evaluate potential financial risks and opportunities and advise on their impact on overall business strategy.

• System & Process Improvement:

• Review and enhance financial systems and accounting processes for increased efficiency and accuracy.

• Oversee the implementation of new financial software or ERP systems as required.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize reporting and control processes.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CA) is highly desirable.

• Minimum of [4] years’ experience in financial management and accounting roles, preferably within a medium to large organization.

• Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, taxation laws, and regulatory requirements.

• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Proficiency with accounting software and financial reporting tools (e.g., MYOB, Xero, SAP, Oracle).

• Proven ability to manage and improve financial processes and internal controls.
