This position is for a Senior Statistician/Analyst in the Information Products and Services (IP&S) team within QGSO.

The Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compile and publish economic, demographic, and social statistics for Queensland using automated processes and Web Content Management Systems (WCMS), often under tight timeframes.
  2. Provide complex technical advice, analytics and reporting services to clients and senior officers. Coordinate client requirements and competing team priorities, exercising sound judgment and effective time management.
  3. Develop and maintain statistical reports and databases using tools such as Excel, R, R Shiny and GitLab.
  4. Develop and maintain web-based statistical reporting systems created in Oracle Database, JavaScript, Eclipse Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT).
  5. Develop and maintain statistical maps using geographic information systems (GIS).
  6. Lead complex technical projects, ensuring outputs satisfy Office standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies.
  7. Ensure the security and confidentiality of information in accordance with standards and security plans.
  8. Apply statistical classifications, standards and methodologies consistently across outputs.

Success Criteria

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  1. Extensive experience in processing and analysing data using the statistical software application ‘R’.
  2. Experience in GIS software for mapping and analysing spatial data.
  3. Experience working with relational databases.
  4. High level written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing work priorities with tight deadlines, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
