Marketing Operational Manager


The Operational manager / recruiter hybrid role involves managing day to day operations, solving operational problems, working with people (staff and contractors), and speeding up systems.

We operate a few different mobile and web apps. All of which have grown through creative marketing strategies.

I can't share too much info on how we pulled this off, but one of our most successful marketing strategies was for our video editing app. We created a social media trend where influencers were using a special effect / filter that we invented and was only available on our app.

Without sharing too much info, we made the trend go viral across tiktok and reddit. We came up with a genius solution to convince influencers to partake in the trend for free by creating the illusion that they were missing out by not partaking in the trend. This whole process was also fully automated and did not cost a great deal of budget to execute either.

If you want to apply for this role, part of your test will require you to come up with just 1 creative solution to increase brand awareness for any one of our apps, similar to the strategy i outlined above.

This role is quite full on. To be honest, a uni degree won't cut it here. You will need to be a creative and abstract thinker. Think outside of the box to come up with solutions to problems that most people wouldn't be able to solve.

Some of the things you will be doing:

  1. Coming up with new ideas for marketing automations and systems.
  2. Coming up with ideas for brand awareness campaigns through means of guerilla marketing
  3. Optimizing existing marketing automations
  4. Intervening with existing marketing processes. Example - We have a system where influencer marketing is almost fully automated. From outreach, to negotiation to video creation by the influencer. You will need to intervene whenever an influencer needs to be paid. You will determine whether the negotiated price is worth it or not, then make the payment.
  5. Coming up with creative ways to hire and train more staff where needed.

Past experience you should have or should be willing to learn quickly:

  1. Plenty of experience with consuming social media content. You should know what sort of content resonates with those between the ages of 13 - 22 in UK, US, CAN, NZ & AUS. If you have gone viral on tiktok before and have a thorough understanding of how things go viral, this is for you.
  2. Organization skills. You will be keeping track of multiple automations happening back to back, side to side. Most of these automations will require plenty of intervention from you around the clock. It is your job to keep the 'train on the tracks' at all times.
  3. Using a task management software or workflow like Monday . com
  4. ChatGPT & other LLMs
  5. Able to work well leading a team. Be strict, but laid back at times.
  6. Basic understanding of different forms of generic, mainstream marketing forms such as SEO, google ads, influencer marketing etc..
