The accountant will be responsible for the accurate and timely recording and reporting of financial data to support strategic decision-making. The positions will be reporting to our director. The duties will include but are not limited to:
-Prepare financial reports (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow) to track performance and internal decision-making purposes.
-Assisting in preparation of company budget for future planning and comparing projected budget with actual budget to ensure we stay on track
-Conducting monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews of financial statements and preparing summaries for senior management.
-Preparing trial balances, reconciling accounts, and analyzing financial data across various ledger categories.
-Managing day-to-day financial transactions and bank reconciliations including credit card statements, staff expense claims and supplier payments.
-Preparing and posting journal entries and conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
-Authorizing disbursements after verifying documentation and ensuring correct coding of expenses.
-Managing monthly closing processes, including accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue, and reversals.
-Preparing quarterly and annual company tax returns.
-Processing payroll-related entries: wages, superannuation, PAYG, commissions, and termination benefits.
-Supporting financial controls and internal policies to ensure regulatory compliance.
-Collaborating with external auditors and accountants for year-end financial and tax reporting.
-Providing ongoing support for the optimization and use of accounting software.
-Implementation and administering accounting information systems in accounting software XERO.
-Performing any ad-hoc financial tasks as requested by the Director.
