We are now urgently looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Newton, South Australia to deliver innovative and accurate drafting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluating and advising on appropriate construction methods, materials, and quality standards while interpreting technical specifications, plans, and drawings.
- Coordinating with project teams to ensure the timely delivery of materials, equipment, and labour, and assisting in the development of detailed construction timelines.
- Collaborating with engineers and geotechnical specialists to factor in site conditions, such as soil strength and stability, that may affect structural integrity and cost planning.
- Reviewing architectural and engineering documentation to accurately estimate total construction costs and develop comprehensive cost plans for budget control.
- Monitoring design changes, assessing their financial impact, and preparing valuations and cost variations to ensure alignment with project budgets.
- Working alongside structural engineers to understand and account for structural system requirements in cost estimations, including both static and dynamic load considerations.
- Supporting the design and costing of infrastructure and transport-related elements within broader urban or landscape developments.
- Providing cost and value management support across a range of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects delivered by DatumCo.
Requirements
- At least Bachelor Degree in Construction Practice or Management/ Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of hands-on experience in quantity surveying or a related role within the construction or architectural industry.
- Proficiency in relevant software and industry-standard estimating tools.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, Building Codes, and local council regulations.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret and quantify architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, clients, and contractors.
